Job Opportunity at Rusumo Power Company Limited - Junior Accountant

 



Background


The Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania have received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Power Project (RRFP). The Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania, through a Shareholders Agreement and the Implementation Agreement, jointly seek to develop the 80MW Regional Rusumo Hydroelectric Power Plant (‘the Project”) through a Special Purpose Vehicle Company, the Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL). The RPCL has been established by the three governments to develop, construct, finance, insure, own, operate and maintain the Hydropower plant/Generation Facility.


The Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL) intends to apply part of the proceeds of the credit to recruit the following key staff positions within the company and now invite qualified individuals to apply for the following positions:


Position Title: Junior Accountant (1)


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The above positions will be based at the Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Power Plant site on the Rwanda-Tanzania Boarder. Staff will be appointed on an open ended type of contract with a probation period of 3 months.


ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES

Only qualified candidates who are nationals of the participating and shareholder countries of Republic of Burundi, Republic of Rwanda, and United Republic of Tanzania are eligible to apply. The positions will be filled up based on equity and balance of the shareholder countries.

Job Description

Capital Limited is an international and highly respected mineral exploration drilling company with operations throughout Africa. An industry leader in safety with ambitious growth strategies, we are seeking applications for the following position by dedicated and professional individuals who would like to join our dynamic team. This position is based in Mwanza and will provide the opportunity to be part of a team that contributes towards the exciting growth of the mining industry in Tanzania.

We have an immediate requirement for motivated, and professional Assistant Accountant located in Tanzania. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, you will assist the Tanzania Finance team with regards to financial reporting and you will be responsible for all accounting data capturing and filling.

Role requirements:
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems
  • Process and settle invoices on the system, including reconciliation of Accounts Payable and review of reconciliations prepared by Assistant Accountant
  • Liaise with vendors for queries, as and when required and ensure that there’s a communication flow between the company and the vendor
  • Update cash book daily, post transactions on the system, payments and receipts, and reconcile weekly
  • Prepare and review the petty cash analysis for posting and ensure expenses are correctly allocated
  • Report daily bank balance to Management
  • Prepare payments and send for approval, and ensure that the correct amounts are being paid to the vendors
  • Prepare and process journal entries on the system
  • Ensure files are kept up to date
  • Assist auditors for queries
  • Assist the Finance Team with ad-hoc tasks

You will be required to have:
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the field of Accounting/ Finance or Auditing
  • Working experience in the mining or manufacturing industry preferable
  • Experience working with foreign multi-national enterprises is preferable
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Self-organisation skills and good time management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both English and Swahili would be an advantage
  • Ability to work autonomously, use initiative and be proactive
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and a pragmatic approach to work
  • Excel knowledge (intermediate level)

Regional Management Accountant
Position:
 REGIONAL MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

This position is based in Mwanza and will provide the opportunity to be part of a team that contributes towards the exciting growth of the mining industry in Tanzania.

We have an immediate requirement for experienced, motivated, and professional Regional Management Accountant.

THE ROLE
The Regional Management Accountant will work with the Chief Financial Officer-Tanzania. The Regional Management Accoun­tant is accountable for the administrative, financial, training and development of local teams, including the development / execution of a financial and operational strategy, in a timely manner. This is a unique and senior level opportunity, working for a company with a clear vision.

Role requirements:
  • Act as a mentor, provide supervision, management and team building of the Tanzania team.
  • Work directly with the teams in West Africa to provide support in terms of financial accounting, management accounting, audit and all other finance tasks as required.
  • Act as a liaison between the Tanzania team and the corporate team in Mauritius, particularly in relation to end of month, group allocations, management reporting and audit tasks.
  • Review work undertaken by local finance teams and provide feedback/assist with corrections as necessary.
  • Provide support during the end of month process, including reconciliations, reporting and cost reviews.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including WIP, new venture, accruals, intercompany etc.
  • Act as an escalation point for the Country.
  • Prepare monthly cash plan for review, update weekly for analysis, and ensure that payments and receipts are properly allocated.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS accounting and financial statements.
  • Ensure that all company accounting procedures are adhered to and that they comply with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare budgets and forecast, and ensure that costs are as per budgets, liaise with the relevant Managers for discrepancies.
  • Interaction with each project in country on the financial results, including variance analysis and recommendation of improve­ment activities.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of Ad hoc, monthly, and annual reporting for all stakeholders.
  • Management of weekly revenue reporting, forecasts, and reporting to CFO for cash flow.
  • Promote a culture of safety leadership at all levels of the organization.

You will be required to have:
  • A degree or master’s degree in finance and Accounting
  • A professional qualification (or working towards) in the field of Accounting/ Internal Auditing would be an advantage
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of Accounting/ Finance or Auditing
  • Working experience in Tanzania region is a must
  • Experience working with foreign multi-national enterprises
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems
  • Strong leadership and self-organization skills
  • Effective communication skills, both English and Swahili would be an advantage
  • Ability to work autonomously, use initiative and be proactive
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and a pragmatic approach to work
  • Excel knowledge (advance level)
  • Time management skills
  • Must be willing to undertake frequent travel
