Job Details

  • Position Title: Senior Procurement Officer

  • Location: Biharamulo Mine, Kagera
  • Reporting To: Mine General Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for overseeing the procurement unit and ensuring that all purchasing activities align with company policies and government regulations. Key tasks include:

  • Procurement Planning: Developing and implementing long-term and short-term procurement plans in coordination with various departments.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all procurement processes follow the Public Procurement Act and company internal strategies.
  • Supplier Management: Managing relationships with key suppliers and negotiating contracts to ensure value for money.
  • Tender Management: Leading the preparation of bidding documents and managing the evaluation and award process.
  • Inventory Control: Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the timely availability of quality goods and services to support mine operations.
  • Reporting: Preparing accurate monthly and annual procurement reports for management review.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  2. Certification: Must be a holder of CPSP (T) or equivalent professional certification recognized by PSPTB.
  3. Experience: At least five (5) to eight (8) years of working experience in procurement, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and experience with procurement software/ERP systems.
  5. Attributes: High level of integrity, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
